The Ontario government announced on Wednesday that they will be removing the 8% provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on new rental housing. The rebate would apply to projects constructed between September 14, 2023 and December 31, 2030, with a deadline for completion by December 31, 2035, and must have at least four private apartments or 10 private rooms or suites. This rebate, combined with the federal rebate, will provide a total of 13% tax relief for new builds.
