Ontario Rental Registry : Unveiling a Game-Changing Solution to Tackle Ontario’s Housing Crisis

The Angus Reid poll revealed that in 2023, when tenants relocate, their average rent spikes by 34% and 80% of tenants are willing to contribute their rent information to the Rental Registry. Additionally, 28% of tenants received a Notice of Rent Increase or Notice of Above the Guideline Rent Increase in 2021 and 20% of them have experienced homelessness in the past. In response to this pressing housing crisis, representatives from the Smart Prosperity Institute, Vivre en Ville and the University of Toronto have launched the Rental Registry, a groundbreaking tool that promises to enhance transparency and affordability in Ontario's rental market.
